Your Weekly Course Report is a summary of your class' performance on questions presented or assigned to them in the preceding week. The Weekly Course Report is designed to efficiently package the most valuable insights from your Top Hat course week-by-week. Specifically, your Weekly Course Report summarizes:

  • Questions that your students performed well on (90th percentile) and those they struggled with (10th percentile)
  • Students that are performing particularly well in your Top Hat course (90th percentile) and students that could benefit from assistance based on their performance (10th percentile).

A Weekly Course Report will be generated for weeks that you meet all of the following criteria in your Top Hat Course:

  • i) presented or assigned at least 5 questions, which have since closed (i.e. are not currently assigned or being presented at the end of the 7 day period)
  • ii) questions may be either in a page or a standalone tree question
  • iii) a correct answer must be set
  • iv) questions must have at least an 80% response rate

When your Weekly Course Report is generated, you will receive a notification email that looks like this:

Having insight into which questions students struggled the most with enables you to review and re-teach these concepts before moving on to new material. Recycling difficult questions after you have reviewed them with your students is an effective way to re-assess their understanding. Click "Save questions for next class" under the difficult questions section of your Weekly Course Report and click here to learn how to duplicate questions within your Top Hat course.

We also recognize that is is valuable to have insight into which students performed poorly in a given week. You can now easily connect with these students by clicking "Send email to struggling students." This will initiate an email to these students prompting them to come to your office hours so you can assist them (email addresses will be hidden from other students).

Manage Notifications
Should you not want to receive theses emails you can indicate this in your Account Settings.
When logged into your Top Hat account, click on your name in the upper banner, and select "Account Settings." On the Account Settings page, select "Notifications" on the left side.

To turn off the notification, un-check the box next to the Weekly Course Report notification preference and click "Save Changes." If you ever wish to opt back in to receiving the Weekly Course Report, return to your Account Settings and re-check the box.
